Thanks, Stu, for evaluation of the present circumstances and the need for reliable power sources. But this one statement confused me a little -

"...while adding significant uncertainty to investment decisions in new resources. This uncertainty is making those decisions increasingly difficult, no matter how much the grid needs them to support weather-dependent resources like wind and solar".

Do you really think the grid needs more weather-dependent resources? That idea seems out of tune with the rest of the post and doesn't make sense to me.

I would make a distinction between what we need and what we must have. It is true we need more energy, however, we must have the right energy. The world's largest machine-the U.S. electrical grid, shameless plug read my stack for Current Wars-needs inertia based mechanical energy not inverted DC, all our equipment is built on that. Saying anything else is foolish. Given the speed and timeliness of our modern economy, high dense liquid fuel is the only way to go.
