The first court decision, handed down by the Court of Appeal in Nimes, France, has ordered the dismantling of a seven-turbine wind farm in Hérault which was built by Énergie Renouvelable du Languedoc (ERL), a subsidiary of German group New. The company now has 15 months to dismantle the Bernargues wind farm and restore the site to its original state.
One has to wonder what the total cost of all this will be. All of the expense to install those wind farms - down the drain, plus now the new expense of dismantling them. As for the original installation expense - how much of it was taxpayer funded subsidies? Will ERL and ENEL survive? Was there a certain amount of arrogance in their determination to go ahead with these projects no matter what?
Yeah.... I wish they had gotten NextEra to take down their wind turbines after their eagle kill debacle. Just a fine for them... ask them if they care.... probably not! It's so sad they they just have to apply for a permit and the cuisine-art can go to work on our eagles, whales, dolphins, seals etc.
Hopefully this will set a precedent, but I will not hold my breathe with these predators everything is far game! Most of don't have the support to fight them and they have very deep pockets and influence.
