Love the student’s enthusiasm. I would push back against the necessity of “all forms”. I know you understand that solar and wind are actually parasitic to the grid. Also they can’t stand alone for profitability without the massive subsidies.
I agree, and solar can stand on its own in different smaller markets. Roof-top solar can make sense as a backup or off-grid solution, and people will pay for that. I am not as sold on wind. After playing with both, there is more of a commercial application for solar, with storage for those who can afford it. - Where Spain and the EU failed is that they do not allow homeowners to put their homes in storage if they are connected to the grid. That is a huge mistake. There is no grid or emergency backup.
But why would we need backup if we have power that can be matched to demand in real time like we have with current generation plants. That’s why the whole green scheme is a joke. And Net Zero is a hoax. It’s building an ineffective addition to the grid that requires back up. Physics and economics don’t make sense on the renewable side.
You are spot on! Watch as we see more grid issues in areas that do not plan for grid resistance. I recommend that everyone have a plan for emergencies. Man-made, or weather-related. Energy security starts at home. We can only help our neighbors, friends, and family if we can help ourselves. The government won't be there, as we have seen in NC.
