So EMPs are not the only risk to our grid system!

And this from conference-board.com: "Wait times for some transformers have gone from weeks to over a year, and costs for finished transformers have soared in some cases by more than 400 percent since 2020, placing residential and commercial construction projects—including those that support electrification and clean energy goals—at risk and impeding the resilience of the grid, particularly in the case of natural or man-made disasters.

Supply shortages that affect US utilities and their business and residential customers are the result of two main issues: 1) the US produces almost no grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES), a key transformer material, and 2) the country relies too heavily on foreign manufacturers for production of large power transformers (LPTs). Al, Way cool information thank you - I have talked with other industry leaders around the world, and it is not just the US facing huge grid supply chain issues. I just can't belive that our government has made such bad decisions that have comprimised our grid. Thanks again for your comment.

When I first got into the solar debacle one of our group made the statement - "what was going to stop the Chinese putting an off switch in everyone of those panels.." we all laughed, then we stopped... nothing to stop them. They have been found to have spyware in our substations, cellphone and much more... and don't mention Tik-Tok..... gathering and pushing crap on us!

We are such idiots for letting this happen. thanks for sharing...
