Almost two years after a similar rule was rejected by the Supreme Court, the Biden administration on Thursday released another final rule for regulating America’s power plants. Under the rule, coal-fired power plants and most new natural gas-fired power plants would have to eliminate 90% of their carbon emissions by 2039 or close down in 2040.
The EPA is contributing to the continuously increasing cost of electricity in America!
• There are about 200 coal-burning power plants still operating in America, with many concentrated in Pennsylvania, Texas and Indiana, i.e. only 8% of the worlds coal plants.
• Worldwide there are over 2,400 coal-fired power stations, i.e., the other 92% of the world’s coal plants.
• Right now, China is building six times as many coal-fired power plants as the rest of the world combined – China is building the equivalent of two new coal plants every week!
2040? I thought it was 2030 then 2035. Are these deadlines sliding backwards? Maybe I’m getting my deadlines mixed up?
