Alberta is doing the right thing. There is no upside to throwing money away on renewables; They de-stablize the grid, are too expensive, are unreliable, and always need to be 'backed up' by something that you know will be there when you need it. This 'net zero' twaddle will put us all closer to energy poverty and is a massive waste of wealth.
